چکیده

We consider a family of large-eddy simulation (LES) models with an arbitrarily high consistency error O(δ2N+2) for N = 1, 2, 3, . . . that are based on the van Cittert deconvolution procedure. This family of models has been proposed and tested for LES with success by Adams and Stolz in a series of papers, e.g., [Deconvolution methods for subgrid-scale approximation in largeeddy simulation, in Modern Simulation Strategies for Turbulent Flow, R. T. Edwards, Philadelphia, 2001, pp. 21–41], [Phys. Fluids, 11 (1999), pp. 1699–1701]. We show that these models have an interesting and quite strong stability property. Using this property we prove an energy equality, existence, uniqueness, and regularity of strong solutions and give a rigorous bound on the modeling error ‖u−w‖, where w is the model’s solution and u is the true flow averages.

Mixed Large-Eddy Simulation Model for Turbulent Flows across Tube Bundles Using Parallel Coupled Multiblock NS Solver

In this study, turbulent flow around a tube bundle in non-orthogonal grid is simulated using the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) technique and parallelization of fully coupled Navier – Stokes (NS) equations. To model the small eddies, the Smagorinsky and a mixed model was used. This model represents the effect of dissipation and the grid-scale and subgrid-scale interactions. The fully coupled NS eq...

This paper presents a new LES technique having a better approximation accuracy than the Differential Filters Method described in [9]. The present method can be used jointly with ADM [1, 2] to improve the Stolz-Adams' methods for turbulent flows.Rezumat: În această lucrare este prezentată o nouă tehnică de filtrare în LES ce are o acurateŃe mai mare în aproximare decât metoda de filtrare cu filt...

Large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubes submerged in an emulated atmospheric boundary-layer

Turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubic obstacles has been numerically investigated using large-eddy simulation. The simulations have been performed using high-performance computations with local cluster systems. The array of cubes are fully submerged in a simulated deep rough-wall atmospheric boundary-layer with high turbulence intensity characteristics of environmental turbulent fl...
